Dental Implants

Don’t Let Missing Teeth Spoil Your Smile

Is your smile ruined by missing teeth? Don’t stop smiling! Let one of our dentists fill those unsightly gaps with dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement that is attached to the jawbone or the skull using a titanium screw that holds a tooth, crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis, or orthodontic anchor firmly in place.

Dental Implants vs Dental Bridges

Dental implants look and feel just like any other tooth in your mouth. They tend to retain their natural-looking appearance longer than a bridge.

Dental implants are less likely to be covered by insurance and, due to the fact that they’re implanted directly into the bone, the process tends to take longer. They can last a lifetime though, and do no damage to any of the other teeth in your mouth.

Dental bridges, on the other hand, are false teeth held in place by attaching them to the teeth on either side. They are not permanent, but are more likely to be covered by insurance and require no bone grafting or invasive surgery.

How does one get a dental implant?

Dental implants require a minor surgical procedure and take varying healing times depending on the health of the patient and the patient’s mouth tissues. Time is needed for a biologic process called osseointegration to take place and for the bone to bond with the biocompatible post. Once it is healed, the dentist will attach the replacement tooth to the titanium screw also known as the implant fixture.
