Partner, Business Manager
Akpo is our Business Manager. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and he holds a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business. Prior to entering the dental field, Akpo worked as a Venture Capital and Private Equity Executive Recruiter and served as the Director of Operations for an international construction and real estate firm.
Akpo manages all non-clinical operations for our practice, and together with the doctors and the rest of the team, helps provide our patients with the most brilliant and best care available. Akpo is engaged in blustery badinage with patients and staff—usually trying to convince anyone to indulge in some snacks or other tasty treats. An avid Manchester United and general sports fan, Akpo is also the reason ESPN is typically playing in our waiting room.
In his spare time, Akpo loves playing soccer, trying to learn new sports (up next: golf), doling out hugs, annoying his wife, and spending as much time with his three young daughters as possible.
Carmen was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico and obtained her Business Management degree from Allied College. Prior to upgrading to the dental industry (haha) she worked in hospitality for 4 years before taking a role in the banking industry culminating in her position as a VP for The Mortgage Shop. Carmen has now been running practices for 11 years and is cross-trained in Medical Billing and Coding. As such, she is uniquely skilled at helping patients maximize their insurance benefits, as well as helping them find appointments that fit their busy schedules. As someone very family-oriented, Carmen loves relaxing with her husband, Kareem, and spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren!
Fun fact: Carmen is an only child, a mother of five, stepmom to four children, and a proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren!
